Main Duties

  • Performing hardware/software installations and firmware upgrades for Windows, Linux and Unix clients
  • Performing maintenance and support of servers, SAN switches and storages
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting and administering Linux, VMware, IBM and Window Servers
  • Performing IBM, NetApp, Dell/EMC storage installations and configurations
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting system event logs
  • Providing direct and indirect client interaction and response to tickets, escalating to managers and vendors where necessary
  • Implementing and executing disaster recovery and business continuity plans in line with client policies
  • Monitoring of scheduled backups to ensure success or taking remedial action for failures

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any relevant field
  • Hands-on experience with storages, servers, backup systems and SAN switches
  • Sound knowledge in operating systems administration (RedHat Linux, IBM AIX, Oracle Solaris or Windows Server)
  • General knowledge in virtualization such as VMware, IBM PowerVM, Oracle Virtual Manager
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in IT
  • Certifications such as NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA), VMWare VCP DCV or RedHat Certified Engineer will be an added advantage
