Idias Corporation Limited Delivers Transformative MIS for MBS

Idias Corporation Limited has successfully developed and delivered a state-of-the-art Management Information System for the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS MIS), marking a significant milestone in the Bureau’s digital transformation journey while reinforcing the role of local expertise in driving large-scale institutional change.

The MBS MIS is a robust, enterprise-grade platform designed to automate and streamline core business processes, and, through funding support from the World Bank under the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project, it replaces decades of reliance on paper-based systems and fragmented digital tools with a centralized, modern solution that enhances operational efficiency, strengthens trade facilitation, and improves management reporting. Drawing on its expertise in developing tailored enterprise systems. Idias Corporation Limited delivered a solution carefully aligned with MBS’s complex operational and regulatory requirements, while ensuring that the platform meets high standards of performance, scalability, and security expected of mission critical systems within a national regulatory institution.

Speaking on the project, Managing Director Edwin Saidi emphasized both the technical strength and reliability of the system, noting that “the system was built using state-of-the-art technology and adheres to strict industry standards, and it is highly secure, with all data fully protected,” while also highlighting the company’s extensive experience in delivering high-impact solutions across government and private sector environments, including multiple World Bank-funded initiatives.

Beyond internal efficiency gains, the impact of the MBS MIS extends across the broader economy, as improved data management, faster processing times, and enhanced reporting capabilities are expected to benefit businesses, consumers, and government institutions that rely on MBS services, while also enabling more informed and timely decision-making across departments.

The system’s rollout was recently highlighted during a media briefing by MBS, where Director General Symon Mandala underscored the transition from manual and fragmented systems to a fully integrated digital platform, and Director of Quality Assurance Services Gloria Mereka further described the solution as a transformative tool that breaks down operational silos while improving service delivery and organizational efficiency.

This successful implementation not only demonstrates the capability of Idias Corporation Limited to deliver complex, mission-critical systems, but also highlights the growing contribution of local technology firms in strengthening institutional capacity and advancing digital transformation across Malawi’s public sector
